SABR110: Global Cuisines & Culture: Study Abroad
Credits 3In today’s increasingly interconnected world, it is important for students to expand their perspectives over their immediate horizons and seek a meaningful appreciation of our global neighborhood. This course provides students with an experiential opportunity to gain those perspectives through the study of the host country’s gastronomy customs and traditions. Students will develop skills to help them progress from passive tourist to an engaged, globally aware traveler. Students will be engaged in 135 hours of first-hand practical experiences in the hospitality, travel, and tourism industries of the host country. Students will learn how to travel well and gain the experiences that will be invaluable in their personal and professional lives. Lessons in country will include lectures and tours on the language, religion, and customs of the host country along with lessons in cooking their traditional and regional cuisines. Meets General Education requirement for Diversity.
